Smooth and slick with rounded, velvety tannins. This positively screams N. Rhone with its layers of tapenade, pastrami, smoke and spice. Really rather seductive and should drink beautifully over the next 5 years.

This wine is ridiculously good, especially given the original $25 price. Aromas are smokey and meaty, a dark core of smashed blueberries and raspberries. In the mouth, dominated by black charred meat, black licorice and, on the late finish, black olive. A rugged wine with a smooth mouth feel. The black olive on the late finish resolves into a mouth-watering acidity with dark red fruit and a continuation of the tarry, charred meat flavors. Truly an impressive wine.

13.5% - Clear, med ruby with a hint of purple / clean, pronounced intensity of black cherry, blackberry, kirsch, menthol, peppery, tapenade, tiger balm?! / dry, med acidity, high dusty and rustic tannin, med to full body, med+ intensity, med+ length. Hard edges on the palate at first, very young at this stage and austere on the palate despite it's intensity.

Ruby-red in color with high saturation. Aromas of blackberry, leather, vanilla, and pepper. Well-balanced on palate (sweet and savory). Full-bodied and high tannins. Medium, earthy finish.

Young St. Joseph in Both Colors (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Even, clear ruby. Violets and pine needles leap out of the glass. Medium weight, lively black fruit, excellent acidity, herbal complexity, soil and moderate tannins on the finish. Quite pretty and polished, better in a couple of years.
