Appearance: crimson red core with red hues. Fairly translucent and medium bodied Nose: notes of blackcurrant, cassis, plum mixed with savoury notes of coffee and liquorice. This is quite aromatic and perfumed Palate: mixed red/dark fruits - ripe plum, cherries and laced with savoury coffee liquorice, some cedary spice. Alikened to Australian Shiraz, with greater complexity and not as full bodied. Very Northern Rhone style which I prefer over Aust Shiraz in general

Chapoutier (Ivy Bottle Shop, Sydney): Oak to the fore on this bottle; caramel, sweet spice, agitation helps the fruit being to pop showing blackberry, a little savoury funkiness. Juicy, savoury, wild black fruits, the oak less prevalent on the palate, though it does provide plenty of drying grip. Air will help this open, alcohol warmth on the finish. Based on previous experience needs food and a decant.

Supper at Fred's (Freds, Oxford Street, Sydney): Decanted 30 minutes before consumption. This started off quite funky but that blew off with a little air revealing a slightly rustic, black hued fruit, savoury Cornas. Not dirty rustic I hasten to add, just a little coarse around the edges on the nose though the palate showed a little more polish. Fresh and charming with cote de boeuf.

Vino abbastanza ruffiano. 100% Syrah Affinamento almeno 14 mesi in Barrique di rovere

SLDS October 2020: Bright purple fruit on the nose and palate, with violets and light earth. Medium bodied palate, it's nice enough but not exactly generating much excitement over and above being nice to drink. Medium length.
