  This was the first time I've tried any Maybach Materium. Opened for dinner with friends (Ribeye steaks). Almost immediately after pulling the cork the dark current aromatics hit the nose. Amazing bouquet. We poured a small sample prior to decanting for 4 hours. Tannins were present. 4 hours later those tannins settled down and the fruit was front and center, big time. Gorgeous, plum and dark current matching the nose perfectly. Mouth coating and smooth with no rough edges and a finish that didn't seem to end. Very polished!!!. Best part was it continued to get better as the evening went on. Everyone was sad to see the bottle empty. A stunning bottle of wine and I have one more of this vintage in the cellar. This is drinking really well with a 4 hour decant but should continue to age wonderfully.

  Just casting my vote and agreeing with all the other reviews and positive commentary on this bottle. This is drinking incredible right now and the finish is very complex. I would also say that the vanilla note is so vivid (in a good way) - not like vanilla extract but the lightest touch of fresh vanilla beans, wonderful on the nose but not overltly spicy on the palate.

  This wine was firing on all cylinders tonight. Brought it to Houston’s ($15 corkage) and even though their stems aren’t great, the wine still shined. Opulent notes of chocolate lava cake with raspberry coulis, black cherry, vanillin oak. Velvety on the palette. Not a subtle wine by any means, but super yummy and terrific with the Hawaiian ribeye. Baby Schrader?

  Rich, hedonistic Napa Cabernet with dark blackberry fruit and intense notes of cassis, mocha and lavender. Super long finish with kirsch notes on the palate. Beautifully balanced and ready to drink after opening.
