  • On the list at I Tigli in Theoria (1 Star Michelin) in Lake Como. Nose was interesting with a mix of Pinot-like and Cab Franc-like sesnation with dark fruit, raspberries, orange peel, ash, grilled meat, smoked fruit and spices. On the palate, it had Barolo kind of power with darkish red fruit and lovely minerality. I really liked it.

  • Delicious. Nose opened reductive, then later showed macchia, ash, and a general vegetative pungency. Nice.

Raspberry and red fruit driven. Full bodied, yet giving and silky from the attack to mid-palate. Felt like there's a touch of oak, deftly balanced. Tannins are mostly resolved and tender.

Reminiscent of Pinot Noir in its mid-palate, yet has a Nebbiolo-like power to it as well. Definitely need to follow this producer, and generally stock up on Etna Rosso.

  • Perfect with New Haven-style pizza! Fresh, acidic, bright red fruit.

  • Prior bottle was 10 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well. Red and black cherry on the nose along with earth, spices and mineral. The nose seems more black cherry dominant than before as well as more aromatic. A bit above medium bodied and took 4+ hours to fully come together, but when it did, it was well worth the wait. Dark red cherry upfront which has retained its brightness but has also continued to integrate with the mid-body, showing a more rounded profile than previously. Mid-body shows good depth, a mixture of black and red cherry and red berries. Darker fruit dominate the backside and contrast well with the tart cherries (both red and black), tannins and acidity. Finish continues to show a mix of earth, spices and minerals. Overall, this wine continues to gain in nuance and expressiveness with time. Integration also continues to show positive evolution. This wine should be every bit as good as the 2014, perhaps even a touch better with a bit more time. Should continue to improve over the next year with another couple of years at that high level.
