No formal note, but a lovely open nose with pure red fruit, and attractive development with game and spice notes. Elegant, medium bodied palate with sweet strawberry fruit, earthy notes, resolved tannins and a lingering, well balanced finish. Lovely, and a definite cut above the Pruliers from the same vintage.

This seems in every way more evolved and mature than it should be. At least today, that's not a bug but a feature as it offers many of the traits of a decades-old wine without the wait. It's a pale brick ruby/violet color and smells ancient, like bloody big game with no fruit on the nose at all. It tastes firm even by Nuits-St.-Georges standards, almost owing as much to Bordeaux as Burgundy with its structure and proportions, but retaining that lean cherry-fruit core amidst the dusty tannin. The fruit flavors, too, are pale and dry, and I have even less of a sense than usual of where this might be going.

This bottle showed very well; very nice complexity has developed; balanced and long.
