Deep purple delicious ripe Merlot flavors (black cherry a bit fresh black pepper) some violet and delicious sweet spices. Medium to full bodied with silky textured tannins and complex persistent finish.

2017 UGC Des Bordeaux, San Francisco, a favorite Chateau of mine since 1985 and I was not disappointed, nose of Black cherry, hint of earth and allspice, medium/big body, lovely, tasty, intense concentration, medium amount of soft, silky tannins, needs 4 years to peak and will earn a higher score, long finish.

Good wine, not flamboyant at this point. Needs time to aerate

Amsterdam UGCB Tasting and Winemakers' Dinner (Beurs van Berlage / Eden Hotel): Trade tasting, brief note. Like the Conseillante which preceded it, quite closed on the nose, but with intensity and drive on the palate, not easily approachable right now, very good length. I see potential here, but it needs time.

I find the 17 Gazin disappointing - the fruit is there but it’s mellow and fat without a lot of energy or dynamism. Shortish finish.
