Tasted at Chateau d’Issan, wine #1. Second wine of the property, made from a blend of 60% of CS, 40% Merlot, aged for 15 months in oak, 35% new barrels. Fruit from the youngest vines is used to produce this wine, which respects the identity of its terroir, while offering fresh and fruity character for earlier consumption. Intense and slightly rustic aroma of smoke, wet earth, cassis, cigar box, violets, farmyard hints. Medium+ body, elegant structure, smoky & earthy cassis, medium+ acidity, refined tannins.

One of my favourite labels and the 2017 is drinking well now. Just love the earthy notes!

A week in Bordeaux (Mouton, Pontet Canet, D'Issan, Langoa & Leoville Barton, SHL, Arbo, Pavie, Fleur de Bouard, Cheval Blanc, VCC, Figeac); 5/21/2023-5/26/2023 (Left and Right banks of Bordeaux): Tasted @ the Chateau. PNP with no decant. Very forward and less complex than the Grand Vin of the same vintage tasted with it. I believe this had more merlot in the blend so a bit more elegant and less powerful than the GV as well. Maybe a point better in a few years?

Smakt på Bordeaux smaking nov 21, veldig god, 40% cab, 60% Merlot. Mye mørke bær, fat og tobakk. Fyldig, tanninrik, god av lagring.
