  • Wish I had a couple more of these. Drinking very well right now. Looking back at my note from 10 years ago, boy how this has changed. Classic, deep Margaux. A delight to enjoy this one. Still has a few years left.

  • Woah, this wine was a monster! I'm seriously puzzled because it was nothing like the Chateau d'Issan 2000. The nose was huge, full of very ripe cherry and blackberry fruit and tons of earth. With air, some funk came through. The palate was equally huge on flavour. I felt the alcohol was a bit high and maybe there were still tannins because it hit your mouth with force. The Grand Vin was by contrast reserved, with elegant cherry fruit, little signs of age, and a very smooth palate. My only explanation was they just dumped a ton of vin de presse into this wine. While lovely, it really needs food, like a BBQ. It was actually a little hard to drink. Absolutely shocking for a second wine, and a second wine from 2000 as I've had a number of them now.

  • Very dark color, only slight fadding at the rim. Nose with dark fruit and sous bois. Rather good wine. Can be kept for some time.

  • My goodness what a surprise!! A stunner indeed. Fantastic time to taste this wine. It is a second wine, but with so much going on. Yet another proof that a good bottle at the right timing is way, way better that a great bottle too early, or late. Fantastic nose of fresh leather, complex spice, clove, and ripe dark berries, and forest floor. It has a great full body, lastingt after taste and a fantastic balance. This all about a serious producer's work on a great year. The perfect time to drink!!!
