Youthful garnet color. Nose is deeply berry fruited supported by spearmint and oak spice. High toned. Young, tannic. Needs time to open but showing a lot of promise. I like the texture. Hold for 10 to 15 years. First time with this wine, and I’m impressed. (93++)

Blind I would have either said Petrus or Vieux Chateau Certan. Very Pomerol plateau type of wine, right at the start, with a plush black berry cedar and leather inflected nose, followed by an all black fruited mouthfeel with an extremely inviting and luscious texture, the wine is generously open with excelent depth of flavors, tanins are very fine and polished, it is obvious there is great mastery at play here, as the phenolic maturity, the level of extraction, the outstanding balance of the wine, the mid palate shows surprising concentration for the vintage but it is also very friendly, concluding in a long, chalky inflected finish where the elegance of the terroirs de Cotes in St Emilion finally appears. A special mention to the domaine, for this tremendous work of love, the great textural qualities provided by the elevage, this is one of the wine of the vintage, a great wine that is ready to enjoy but will add lots of complexity in 5 years down the road. Bravo !

Interesting tasting and talk with the enthusiastic Francois Mitjavile, the owner at Chateau Tertre Roteboeuf. What makes his wines truly special, is the fine grained tannins and the phenolic maturation. The wines feel light and drinkable quite early. The 2017 has aromas of blackberry, plum, cherry, cedar, coffee, chocolate and earthy notes. Very elegant and long.

Huge wine, with lots warm fruit, noticeable alcohol, but some grip and good structure. Notes of blackberry, black currant, tar, lard, baking powder, smoke and some eucalyptus. Very enjoyable wine for sure but definitely a modern style and loses some points for me with the alcohol that was distracting to say the least. If the heat and that burnt feeling work their way out over time this has potential to gain a couple of points but this bottle tonight as it was drinking did NOT live up to the hype. Drank along side a Don Melchor 2013 that everyone agreed was the superior wine.

Incredible wine for a vintage so difficult to produce.
For me, one of the three best wine of this year with Lafleur and Carmes H-B
