Has that slightly lighter Pinot noir, velvety, purple color, more mature, given its geography and deeper flavor profile, including blackcurrant Cassis, in a bit of blackberry on the finish. Tasty and clean with minimal tannins

Yummy, and drinking well now. Not overly complex and certainly not Copain's best, but it made for a delicious pop and pour. Also, from a vintage when Wells Guthrie was still the winemaker.

This pours medium purple in the glass. The nose is low complexity, moderate intensity showing blueberry, crushed granite, violets, tar, and flowering thyme. The palate enters on the blueberry fruit, turning to medium minus tannin and medium acid. The finish goes a tad tarry and fizzles out without much length. All in all this is a fairly classical Syrah that could be confused with the Northern Rhone, though the fruit being quite prominent could reveal it's true origins. What's really missing for me here to take this to a higher level is more of the overt smoke, olive and pepper I love in Syrah, and none of that really shows here.

Restrained fruit, with some good acid and mild tannin. Not the most complex Syrah, but I’d buy this all day for $25.
