As someone who was a big fan of Nigl wines in the 90s and early 2000s, I have to say I haven't been so impressed with the wines in recent vintages. This entry level GV lacks much of a midpalate, and really, much of anything other than a smooth medium-bodied presence on the palate. No zip or zing from any of the several bottles I've opened, unfortunately. Perhaps they have moved to all purchased fruit for this wine?

Another in a growing string of excellent QPR Gruners for me. Bartlett pear, lemon, and mixed herbs coalesce, supported by zippy acidity. On the savory side, with a peppery note lingering on the medium-long finish.

"Sourced from 4 different vyds in the hills above the city of Krems. The soils are primarily löss & the temperature is moderated by its steep elevation." Fermented & aged in s/s;
N: Apples, minerals, undertones of flowers
P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by BRACING acidity which lets NOTHING get out of hand while fairly seamlessly transitioning into a LONG, crisp, tangy/swt finish. // Day 4: Has held REMARKABLY well, the frt/acid dialectic having served it with distinction! ∑: My EXC-/EXC, trending towards the higher. [As of late Aug '19, wine-searcher still shows several sources from $18-$22].
