Don't see a ripeness designation on this one (federspiel vs smaragd) but the pricing suggests the former. Still, this is a pretty dense wine, a bit primary at the moment but with good minerality and cut. Mostly stone fruits and citrus at this point. Will aim to leave my other bottles for a few years in the cellar as improvements are likely. Always enjoy this producer's wines.

Very nice, value Barbaresco with crunchy red fruits, fairly smooth tannins, and some nice smoke and balsamic notes too. This benefited from several hours in the decanter. Light-to medium-bodied and a bit "thin," but a very good food wine (aren't most Italians that?), this time paired with a gluten free vegan red-sauce lasagna (better than it sounds). This might improve with more cellar time, but don't see a huge upside on it.

Beautiful nose on this of dark fruits, charcoal, lead pencil, minerals and hints of incense and some high-toned floral notes as well. This was decanted several hours and followed over 2 nights, and really sang after just an hour or two of air time. This bottle was better than the previous and with 10+ years of aging I can definitely see this going up a couple of points. Everything in balance (if a little oaky at the moment, but that will be absorbed into the fruit in time). Medium-to full bodied. Classy wine. One to stock up on and age a while. Rating: 93+

3/18/2023 3:38:00 AM - I just blocked collector1855. He's had the entire thread removed about the LDH and is no longer accepting comments on any of his wines. What a douche. I knew I should have printed up the thread. My wife was really getting a kick out of me reading all the comments to her! Cheers! Mark
3/9/2022 2:34:00 AM - I just started noticing your tasting notes with the 2014 DdC. Obviously we share a passion for Bordeaux. That's nearly all I have in my cellar. A lifelong CT resident, I live only a few miles from you, in Bolton.
1/27/2022 3:55:00 PM - Thank you for becoming a Fan. Not sure what it means. However, if some of my notes brighten up your day, all the better. You will find my choice of wines eclectic, as there is so much to discover in today's myriad of interesting wines.
