This wine is made from grapes that are less familiar to most of us. If one is willng to branch out and try something different, this is worthy of your efforts.
Am making these notes on the last glass from this bottle. Was abused, left on the counter overnight with no cork.
Is a lot of wine here. Medium/full body, tons of fruit, well balanced acaidity and tannin. A real value as long as you can get used to it not being Cabernet !!
This area of Portugal, Alentejo, produces some of the most delightful wines the country has on offer. Dona Maria is one of the best in the regiion and deserves respect.

Alentejo Trip; 6/3/2018-6/8/2018: Aromas of black cherries, deep blackberry, violets, vanilla, lavender. Velvety but powerful on the palate with dark plums, black currants, roasted figs. Notes of smoky charcoal, scorched earth and cocoa. Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional, aged one year in French and American oak, 14.5%.
