Community Tasting Notes (15) Avg Score: 90.6 points

  • Nice complexity. Herbal notes, leather, with rich fruit. Good acid. Integrated tannins. Showing quite well at the moment but should hang around for a number of years still.

  • Henschke 2016 Henry's Seven (SRP $48): This is a compelling Shiraz-based blend carefully sourced from vineyards throughout Eden and Barossa Valley. A traditional practice in Côte Rôtie, (66%) Shiraz is co-fermented with (9%) Viognier, while Grenache (15%) and Mataro (10%) are fermented separately. A beautiful ruby-purple color in the glass, this full-bodied blend starts out with savory, floral-laced aromas joined on the entry by flavors of vibrant cherries, ripe blackberries, and stewed plum, with trailing hints of pretty violet and exotic spice. There’s good mid-palate depth, rounded out by seamless, finely-knit tannins and well-balanced, fresh acidity. It ends with a long, polished finish. An excellent addition to any dinner table that’s sure to please.

  • Retail $42. Under screw. 66% Shiraz, 15% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 9% Viognier. Viognier co-fermented with Shiraz, the Grenache, and Mourvèdre fermented apart. Deep crimson color in the glass which is fruity, but more Rhône Valley than Hospices du Rhône with dark cherry, ripe plum, and a hint of allspice on the nose. The palate is fruity (again, in the Old World style) with ample tartness and more than a modicum of depth. Very nice. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Red fruits and ginger with vanilla oak and earthy oak on the nose. Not overly fruit forward. Palate is filled with red fruit and spicy nuances. Rich and smooth on the palate. Clean and open. Finish is velvety and deep. Can drink now or age for a few more years.
