  • Fantastic gruner. Not quite as smooth and ethereal as the Rudi Pichler Achleiten enjoyed the night prior, but still excellent.

  • Popped and poured. This is a pale gold wine. On the nose, I get flowers, pepper, and a bit of wild honey. In the mouth, this is a crisp, focused, and steely wine. The lingering finish really pulls the sensations through in the mouth. Overall, I thought this was a well-made and enjoyable wine (as an aside, CT categorizes this as an “off-dry” wine, but it struck me as a fully dry wine on which I didn’t get any sugar at all). I don’t drink enough Gruner to score the wine objectively, but I liked it. Is it somewhat expensive? Perhaps. But it’s obviously good and reasonably priced compared to almost all white Burgs and most white Rhones, so don’t fret and enjoy.
