Opened magnum on my daughters rehearsal dinner before wedding. Everybody was raving. Classic West Slope notes of black and blue fruit. Sage and exotic spice notes. Wine drinks very smoothly. Right choice to pair with chicken marsala and tuna sashimi. 96 points.

This wine was purchased during a winery visit in 2/2019. It was drank out of a Conterno Sensory glass. Decanted approximately 75 minutes and then poured back into the bottle. It was drank over 3.5 hours. It improved a little overtime.
The wine is a pale to medium ruby red in color. The nose is of red fruits and spice with earthy undertones. The taste was of red fruits, but not in your face fruit forward, spice, cocoa and hints of earthy mushroom. It is medium bodied with medium+ acidity and good balance. The wine was very enjoyable but not the best West Slope vintage in my humble opinion. In the 2016s, I prefer the RRV Reserve to the West Slope but in most years I hedge more towards the West Slope as my favorite Donum. My rating is 93+ with some short-term upside for improvement.

flawed in some way, Maria picked up a taint on the finish - slightly bitter and sharp.

deeper and darker than some of the WS Donum's of the past, the raspberry has been replaced with plum and cherry with earthy undertones.
