Fair is fair. I rated the first bottle of this an 85, essentially panning it as unpleasant to drink. The second bottle I have to rank at slightly above the community average to make up for my prior disrespect, but also because this bottle deserves it. Extreme bottle variation is at play. Tonight’s wine is thinner than the first bottle, seemingly fading a bit. The nose is muted with some funk, leather, but minimal fruit. In the mouth it is like an aged Rhône with fruit fading, some acidity, but tannins resolved. The finish lingers a bit and the wine was a perfect complement to steak. I have one more bottle and will not wait long as I don’t see this improving with additional age.
Musky, animal nose with ripe plum and raspberry. At first, there is a hit of spritz on the palate that dissipates with swirling. Really complex palate echoing the ripe fruit on the nose. The fruit has a new world ripeness, but there's an old world "funk" on the palate, too. Tasters were fascinated by how different this wine was from the others.

Maybe this is just not my style; heavy and funky to an extreme. dark, dark purple with a reticent nose given its color. Palette coating but with something of an unpleasant aftertaste. Did not improve over time or even the second day. Disappointing

Ultra-reductive and savory. Complex nose that’s hard to place…potpourri, charred meat, spice box. Some dark red fruit. Finish is long perhaps a bit astringent. Agree with others needs lots of air, we decanted for couple hours and guessing it will be better tomorrow.
