  • Nose very similar to a St Estephe on a cool year. Minerals, tobacco, dry black berries and smoked meat with oregano. Savoury and herbaceous defined the bouquet. Need at least 2 hours of decanting for the wine to open up and elements to harmonise better. Palate largely echoed the notes from the nose. Still young and lively with a dash of ripe fruits surfacing on the full bodied mid-palate, among the smoked herbs and wood blend. Finish is deep but somewhat raw for now. Good potential for aging. Recommend to keep for another 3 years before drinking it if you like it to be more approachable. The equivalent from Coonawarra would probably be more approachable and balanced with the same age but it would have higher acidity and leaner than the Cab from Margaret River. It should last for 5-8 years from now.

  • Colour: inky bordeaux red
Nose: lots of black berry fruit. Cassis, blackcurrant, blackberry. Plum. Mulberry jam. Juniper berry. Nightshade leaf. Cigar box, sweet spice. Typical Cabernet.
Palate: again, lots of black berry fruit. Cassis, blackcurrant, blackberry. Mulberry jam. Plum? Juniper berry, nighshade leaf. Cigar box, sweet spice. Typical Cabernet, elegant, linear, restrained. Moderate fresh berry-like acidity; fine-grained structured slightly drying tannins. Classic, elegant, structured. Moderate length on the palate. Elegant but medium to full bodied, 14% alcohol. Amazing value at au$8 as a bin end.
