Moncur Syrah/Shiraz (Bistro Moncur, Sydney): Polished, ripe black fruits; plums, cherry, berry, sweet spice, cream. Juicy, tangy, fruit a little sharper, almost crunchier, on the palate. Tannins are drying, slightly chalky , persistent. Hmm.

Absolutely delicious. Bursting with red fruit. My first bottle of McRae Wood. Will definitely invest in more of this and other vintages for the cellar.

Caramel, liquorice and cherries. Complex with many aromas on the nose. Taste of mulberry and cherries. A somewhat bitter finish, but after an hour started to soften. Would recommend at least an hour decanted.

Gosh, cold bottle from cellar, I suspect that tasted blond I’d have picked this as a fine Rioja.
14%, screwcap.
