  • Memory lane as I bought this on site at the winery nearly 15 years ago. Actually it is better now than then - the oak has mellowed nicely, even though it was always going to be a wine carrying some sort of oak signature forever.
The colour is still very deep ruby with just some light browning at the edge. Sweet dark fruit and caramel on palate. Pleasant though not nuanced or complex.

  • Like the Energizer Bunny....still going. No shade of prune or apple rind. Everything completely dissolved and resolved--fruit, tannin, acid. Had it with a steak, which worked fine, but was thinking how well this would lend itself to chocolate the whole time. There is not a trace of South Afridan "Band-Aid" here, if you are wondering. Not even a whiff on nose. Drinking fine right out of the bottle. No worries.

  • Pine and dark berries on the nose; very dark plum in colour; sour cherry and bark on palate; not particularly well balanced but pleasant none-the-less with medium finish.

  • The cork looked pristine. The wine offered black currant, dark plum, bell pepper, spices, a hint of tobacco and some brett on the nose. On the palate the wine showed black currant, plum, spices, dark chocolate, espresso, a hint of tobacco and some brett, paired with fine, grippy tannins, medium-level acidity and very good length. The full-bodied wine was very Cabernet-driven and still firm. It drank very well, but should easily keep drinking at the same level for at least another three years.

  • This 12 year old wine was still drinking nicely. There was a distinctive overtone of plum. There were minimal tanins. The wine was very pleasant drinking
