  • This is very nice. Full but in no way too much. Retains freshness and minerality to keep everything in place.

  • Prior bottle was one year ago and this wine remains in a very good drinking window. Vanilla along with soft, white orchard fruit notes on the nose. Medium bodied with apple and pear upfront, moving to peach through the middle. The fruit notes are very rounded and pretty, showing good expression. There a nice little burst of acidity and tart citrus on the backside which provides contrast to the mid-body fruit as well as overall balance. The fruit really showed quite impressively and as a whole, felt like this wine was just in a great spot. Should be able to maintain this peak over the next 12-18 months, but while it will certainly have life beyond that time, this is the time to drink it to really enjoy this peak.

  • Yet another splendid wine from Gavin Chanin - vivacious, handsome and simply delicious. The 16 Bien Nacido Chardonnay appears bright golden in the glass. It opens on a pure note with yellow apples, lemon, peach, minerality, distinct floral and vanilla-touched aromas. Palate is medium+-bodied in a delicious cold-climate style, vivid medium+-acidity, fresh and with ample depth. Appears slightly oaky up-front, balanced throughout bottle. Finishes on a semi-sweet, fresh & mineral-saline note. Terrific show!

  • Prior bottle was 8 months ago and my notes were consistent. White orchards fruits dominate the nose with a smattering of light oak peeking through. Medium bodied with a virtually identical flavor profile to my prior bottle; white apple and slight brighter white pear upfront, adding white peach through the middle and balancing with citrus and acidity on the backside. Like my prior bottle, overall balance between fruit, oak and general structural qualities remained a strength. The use of oak and moderate acidity left the fruit feeling supported and added depth and a soft creaminess behind the white orchard notes, rather than concealing or overpowering them. Should continue to hold up and I'll plan to open my next bottle in June/July 2023.

  • First bottle in at least a year, maybe a little longer. I thought it would be more evolved by now but it really hasn't budged much. Righteous juice that may be at it's best in another year or two. Still bright, fresh, and youthful. Love it. My go-to for domestic chardonnay when Chablis is off the table.
