  • On opening the bottle, some reductive elements were present, which blew off almost immediately.
Light/medium ruby colour, garnet at the rims. Slightly cloudy/translucent.
Nose: dark red fruits, plum, cherries. Lovely floral perfume, roses. Just a little bit earthy, mainly a fruit/floral driven nose with some spicy notes (ginger?).
Palate: Floral and grassy notes drive the acidity. Not really much fruit on the palate, more spicy and with a greenness to it (forest floor). Rose from the nose is still present here, presenting in a silky smoothness ending in a lovely chalky finish. Quite light with a medium length. Tannins and wood are well integrated.

  • Nose is woodsy with a little vanilla, some tobacco and herbs. Yup, definitely got some new oak here but it’s only a _little_ too much. Interesting fruit character (a bit stewed prune along with some fresher sour cherry?), great med+ acid, round lactic finish that hangs in the air for a while.

  • This pours light ruby in the glass with a touch of cloudiness. The nose immediately soars from the glass showing blood orange, red currant, red cherry, nori, incense, lemon peel, ginger powder, and bitter herbs. The palate is elegant with light tannin medium plus acid. The finish is only medium minus in length with some green bitter notes. I really love the style here. So beautifully elegant and classically Burgundian. The cloudiness and a vaguely yeasty note had me wondering if this is a low sulphur wine, influenced by the natural wine movement. I am aware that this producer does some zero sulphur bottlings, though I don't believe this is one of them. Regardless I really love this profile and am happy that I own several more bottles.

  • This is the version without sulfur. Opened with about 2 hours of air and the funk blew off, not that there was that much to begin with. By 2.5-3hr there was a lot more mint and leather in it, less abrasive on the palette. Nose of tangy rhubarb tart, mossy log, lil mint. Integrated acidity and tannin, not that fruity. Palette had a hint of pacific cooler, Gatorade frost into the best piece of chalk you’ve ever eaten. Long finish with vanilla bean ice cream and fresh red berries

  • Ruby colour with a tinge of garnet. Ripe raspberries, mushrooms, moss and hints of minerality on the nose and palette. The flavours are concentrated without being too showy and it has a silky smooth mouthfeel. Could use more structure to help balance out the acidity in this wine. This wine is full of youth but with sophistication. A long and balanced finish. There is enough complexity here to keep you interested for awhile. Opened a second bottle but it had a tinge of fizz which distracted me from the overall experience.
