  • Served blind and albeit we had this before ( Papies 89) was a tough one to spot as it is in this in between phase.
Dark and youthful in color, still very much a young wine , touch reductive, rich and very much a cool climate feel. Andreas started off with a Barolo aromatics but went with a village rich year burg in the end 2010 or 2015..
Really this is a Wine to age a lot more such is the quality of the build here that it would definitely benefit from a full secondary feel. We have one more bottle and this we will forget for old age. 89-90 for now

N: ripe red cherry, cacao, wet leaves, red plum, baking spice, red currant
P: dry, high acidty, med (+) grainy tannin, med body, 13.5% ABV
C: good wine = balanced acidity + red fruit and tertiary notes, med (+) intentisy, med concentration, med (+) complexity, med finish. Bright fresh, still has life but will not last more than 5 + years, drink now.

  • Reductive in a way, decent use of oak (well mannered) felt very much a cool climate wine and albeit soft and round and polished a touch backward. We felt it needs more time much like a Punset Barbaresco needs a lot more age in bottle albeit this is a much more modern wine that that of Punset. Still very good 89 for now but we will age a lot more the rest of our bottles.

  • Great xino, second time I try it and really enjoy it. Nose offers a bouquet of red fruit maybe tomato, yeast and earthy notes, certain tobacco hues and pronounced oak, that was a bit spoiling the character. Body was full, intense, sour of course being a xino but not overly acidic, with some intense, vivid tannins. Finish was enduring and pleasant leaving pepper like impressions.I think despite its pop character it is an interesting bottle deserving a try.
