  • Estate tasting and visit, blah blah, almost 80% Grenache from the secteur des Garrigues in vacqueyras, mainly rolled stones, to know better check the inter rhone site, it has it all...knowing des tours or Montirius are lower in the sandy area for example, softer and less intense wines somehow.

anyways here it is, nose of black olives, tapenade, slight ox,

forts palate is pretty warm and mouth feeling, filling too :) nice ending with great tart presence, when mid palate is round and fruity, long very long

could easily rank a better 91/92 with a few more years, yet so enjoyable now

  • What a discovery! I've been drinking Vacqueyras, Gigondas, and CDP with passion for 25 years. Traveled to the region three times. But I didn't know this producer.

    This wine is classic Vacqueyras.

Impressive color (dark ruby). Classic southern Rhone syrah-driven nose of violets, spiced black cherries, purple fruits/plums, licorice, and Vaucluse spice and earth. Beautiful touch of light smoke.

In the mouth the wine is clean, medium-full bodied (import label says 14.5 alc), yet deftly light on its feet, with the slightly bitter-cherry finish typical of classic Vacqueyras -one of the 8 "crus" of the southern Cotes du Rhone along with Gigondas.

I paid $17 for this wine! This is insane. $40 seems to be the normal SRP. Was this mis-marked? Idk. Even at $40, if you can still find it, buy 6 bottles of this for the Fall and Winter of 2019-20 (if you have a cool wine storage area).

Drink now. (But it will last over the next 5 years in a cool cellar.)

This producer is the quintessential, undiscovered, high quality, family owned and operated, tiny, French country winery. Husband (Bernard), and wife (Marie France), and their two adult sons (Julien and Emilien). Their Vacqueyras vineyard is only 3.5 hectares and is on the high plane right at the bottom of the beautiful Dentelles de Montmirail. The vineyard is covered with rolled fist-sized pebbles (galets) just like CDP. This is the real deal folks.
