  • Nose of dark fruits and cherries. Evolving aromatics into strawberries and light flowers too. On the palate, there were more black cherries, and leather as well. I liked the pepper on the medium-long length finish.

Medium bodied. Tannins are fine, acidity is medium to medium+.

I guessed Old World, not French, and perhaps an Italian. Could not figure that this was a BDM though!

100% Sangiovese. Aged 4 years, of which 3 are in 50-100 HL Slavonian oak barrels. Bottles are further aged 8 months prior to release. 25,000 bottles produced each year.

2013 and 2015 were legendary and magnificent vintages, so it is not a surprise that 2014 fell kind of short. It was a cool, wet season with lack of sun which made full ripening difficult. Crops were small, with many producers declassifying Brunello into Rosso di Toscana instead.

Thanks to new buddy Sern for sharing this BDM at our scrumptious Mini Tanker dinner, I am so excited to have tried this having waited since 2020 when I had that last bottle with Chien in Bangsar.

  • This was still very bright and beautiful after 9 years. I have another bottle that I will sample at the 15 year mark.

  • Black cherry on the nose as well as front of palette. Leather in the mid palette and a hint of white pepper on the finish. Smooth finished tannins, mild acidity. Very well balanced wine.

  • 1/3, good cork, decanted 1/2 hr.
Pale/medium garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Nose is pretty, aromatic with strawberry fruit, florals, touch of spice. Medium/full bodied, elegant with bright, pure red fruit, fine boned with fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a good length finish. Excellent

  • Tasted during Caviste UK Zoom session of Italian wines. Medium cherry colour. Beautiful nose, earthy, dark chocolate, peppermint. Lovely and mellow overall. Very good.
