90-minute decant. Deep dark garnet magenta color. Dark chocolate, bay leaf, Korean plum, red currant, and spicy coconut. Dry, dusty, full bodied palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish.
This is very rich and drinking at its peak IMHO. Third wine at a nice business dinner in New Orleans. Essentially served as “liquid dessert”.
Excellent fruit from the Oakville benchland of Missouri Hopper. As good as this vintage is I prefer vibrant acidity of 14 & 15. 2016 is a little more heavy in mid palate sweetness that becomes a bit of a distraction (splitting hairs). I'm sure for a lot of folks out there this is exactly what they look for in a wine.
Killer lineup at Anhelo. Informal wine dinner no notes.
2021 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis, Piedmont 2010 Sandrone Cannubi Boschis Barolo, Piedmont 2005 Chateau Margaux, Margaux 2016 Carte Blanche Napa Valley 2018 L’Eglise-Clinet Pomerol 2013 Capezzana Vin Santo di Carmignano Riserva 2005 D’Yquem, Sauternes, Bordeaux - just a sip
2016 Carte Blanche is a screaming deal for a beautiful crafted wine with amazing concentration from the dark fruits focused on cassis then black cherry with some herbal notes thrown in and then on to the damp dark earth, Turkish coffee, bitter chocolate and a wonderful finish. So good!

@Anhelo- Cali Cab the way I like em. 2 hour decant, Absurd balance and harmony with truly unique elements on the nose and palate. Juicy blackberries and boysenberry, milk chocolate, vanilla, clove. A bit of menthol. Long finish and just a joy to consume.

Nothing new to report. Just a delicious wine drinking really well right now. Held its own in a really good lineup. All very diverse but really well done.
