Four hour decant. Deep dark, yet bright, magenta color. Plum, raspberry, Russian tea cake, blueberry, almond extract, and peony on the nose. There are also subtle notes of truffle, mushroom, and dark chocolate. Smooth, tongue drying palate, with satiny acidity. Full, round, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.
This kept improving over an hour of drinking. It’s complex, demure, and refined. Very much a Bordeaux-leaning Napa Cab, but only in good ways. This is as good as you can do at this price.
4 hrs slow ox. Can't believe it's been 2 years since I last popped one of these. Less floral nose than I recall, but the palate shows crushed stone and graphite with faint oak in the background.
Well balanced and no rush to down these; different from what I think of the DP style but still a great value and anything but the high octane fruit bomb that is too often the Napa score-reaching goal.

A bit closed off upon opening. This could have used a healthy decant to get going but unfortunately in a group setting we killed this pretty quick.
My vote would be to continue to lay these wines down for another few years or decant like so many others have mentioned here.

The 2016 CA cabs have been drinking beautifully for the past 6 plus months... No infanticide here....
