Decanted for ~2hrs. Light-medium bodied with bright fruit and enjoyable grippy tannins. Clearly Old World and I think a good quality wine, but a little bit too much barnyard/brett for my personal New World palate.

A very pretty surprise even at this young age, round , well mannered , well assimilated oak and harmonious across. Mostly on the dark fruit side of things , very pretty forest fruit feel if we can push that far and very welcoming. Solid 91 and with good life ahead but a good candidate for good early drinking without sacrificing quality.

Double decanted and then slow ox for 6 hrs, 5 bottles to Christmas dinner no variation whatsoever. Other than the very fresh raspberry profile there was a brett balance that I thought made the wine more interesting because without it, it was quite linear but it might be too much for others. Drink with a long decant or hold for a couple of years.

Visiting London, Galway, Dublin and Paris; 9/14/2019-9/29/2019 (England, Ireland and France): Château La Grave Figeac's 2016 iteration is a deep-to-opaque ruby blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc that is loaded with black currant and black cherry fruit, augmented with spice cake, licorice, tobacco and earth. Medium-to-full-bodied, fresh, judiciously oaked and with medium tannins that carry some grip, it picks up weight on the middle palate and finishes with good length. Minimal time in the cellar will allow this to reach its full potential. Drink 2021-2036.
