  • Pulled the cork and poured a taste at 5 - lovely aromatics already so left it alone til we got into it a little after 7. Nose is elegant with layers of dark fruit, all of which is permeated by a saline savory minerality. Nothing showy, nothing super pungent, nothing sticks out, the wine is balanced and is best for its elegance silky texture, and harmony. It's hard to name specific flavors or aromas with this wine, as happens when the balance and harmony is like this. Paired beautifully with pork loin, bitter greens and polenta. Not the most detailed articulation, and those looking for fireworks will be disappointed. But this is such an elegant wine, and still has lush 05 fruit. I bet it improves for another 5 plus year, too.

  • This is really holding up well. Nose reflects allspice and beautiful fruit with quite a lot of cherries. Dense and fruit forward on the palate. Very enjoyable.

  • From half bottle. Popped and poured
Red fruit (raspberry, cherry), floral- violet, spice, earth, good acidity. Pretty open. Nice complexity. Really enjoyable. 92+

  • Clearly more developed than the bottle I had opened 2 years ago. Still very structured, but the tannins are quite soft and the dark fruit really shines through.

  • From half bottle. Popped and poured
Dark fruit (cherry, blackberries), earth, spice, minerality, a little reserved. Agree with below - fruit a bit secondary now and structure dominates. Good potential. Still enjoyable now. Good finish. 91+

(FACONNIERES Lignier-Michelot) 2005 Burgundy Dear Friends, Our parcel of 2005 Lignier-Michelot has docked and it is one of major league caliber. All of the wines below are VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and we only have one shipment. The Bourgogne is particularly exciting and all of the wines are even better from bottle than they were from barrel. This lot is directly from the cellars at Lignier-Michelot with perfect provenance: 2005 Lignier-Michelot Bourgogne (Bons Betons) (BH85-88) EXTREMELY LIMITED This wine is outstanding for what it is - period. It reaches way beyond its calling and would compete with 2005s at twice the price: 2005 Lignier-Michelot Chambolle-Musigny Vielles Vignes (BH89-91) STRICT LIMIT 3/person Another outstanding effort and one that reaches way beyond it's pedigree. From some of Chambolle's most desirable old vines: 2005 Lignier-Michelot Morey St. Denis "Faconnieres" (BH92) EXTREMELY LIMITED Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg6001 Burg6002 Burg6003
