  • Very interesting, this was served next to the 2010 Beaucastel VV Blanc which was richer and riper. This 100% Marsanne had a lighter color, nose of apple cider, bruised apples, one could think also think Chard or Chenin Blanc but on the palate it is than richer in texture white cooked butter and herbal notes, stays fresh and pleasant. Nice showing.

  • Fully mature but not showing any signs of decline. Light to medium yellow. Floral with touch of motor oil on the nose. The palate is tasty And fleshy sporting flavors of pomelo, kiwi, flowers and minerals. Decently long finish.

  • When first open the acidity and bitter tones was quite overwhelming. After one hour somehow it mellow down. notes of honey and floral started to be revealed. Creamy and buttery.

  • A cult rhone white. A bit hard to get in my area. Golden in colour, slightly thick and oily. Bit of honey, floral and tropical fruits. Goes well with pasta and oily fish.

  • Pop and poured at B&B PP. Drank over 2 hours.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, gold colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of honey, nuttiness, hay/straw, stony rocky minerality, ripe apricots. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of nuts, honey, hay/straw, ripe stone fruits, apricots, hints of pineapple and yet slightly unripe green mangoes. With more air, the intensely rocky mineral core dominates the fruits. A touch of herbs towards the oxidative finish. Very long lingering finish.
Very good quality. A complex and layered wine. Objectively a very good wine but not my current favourite type of style.
Probably drink up over next 3 years. I feel that the intense mineral core might overtake the fruits on this, or maybe the honey might take a step up. Who knows where this will go?
