Nose: Cassis, chalky earth. Palate: tart raspberry, sour pomegranate, tangy, soft tannins coupled with high acidity. Was somewhat better on day two with the tanginess subsiding a bit; however, the structure is a bit off-balanced to me.

Bell pepper, green stems, blackberry, pickled green peppercorns, pencil and leather on the nose. Tight and cool in the mouth. Tobacco, black pepper, plenty of grip. Some black currant, and a fruity acidity. Still a tad bit young…

A bit dissapointing for a Cantemerle 2nd wine. Some sour grapes that I found were too dominant. Perhaps a few more years in the cellar will integrate more.....Had this one right after a low priced La Tour De By 2016 that was in much better balance.

At St John Tavern: OK. Reasonalby elegant claret, a touch of cedar, silky texture, but not very expressive.

Pleasant, if dilute, on day one; bloody, astringent on day two - despite vacuum seal and refrigeration.
