An introduction to the wines of Italy (Geoff's house): The Ripasso was wine number 4 on the night. It was medium ruby in colour and tended toward garnet at the rim. Aromas were medium in intensity, with sour cherry and raisin most evident to me. On the palate were cherry and raisin, with pronounced intensity. Acidity was medium-minus, alcohol was medium, and the wine tasted off-dry (although I could have been fooled by the fruitiness). Tannins were light and signs of oak aging were evident. The finish was medium-minus, which was shorter than I expected but it still made for a nice wine.
Of the seven wines on the night, the group put the Ripasso tied for third along with the Chianti Classico. The group liked the sweetness of the Ripasso—I expect they would have really enjoyed an Amarone. It was my third-favourite right ahead of the Chianti. For $14 CAD at Costco, you can't go wrong with this one.

Rich but yet subtle compared to its old sibling A marine. A taste of the Northern Italian earth..finishes off with balanced tannins and acidity🍓🍷😙😊

Aerated for smoother fruit forward finish. Great with lamb and mature cheese.
