  • This is a really interesting domaine - somewhat peculiar; even at this age, the wine seems young, vibrant, mineral and cool with plenty of garrigue, but with no signs of fatigue. I disagree with PB, that these wines can be heavy, to me there are almost always concentrated but cool. One the night this was better thna the Beaucastel.

  • My last bottle of this wine unfortunately, still singing and plenty of red fruit left to keep this going for another 4-5 years. See previous notes. At home with Osso Bucco.

  • Glorious old-school, mature Chateauneuf. This has everything going for it in terms of tertiary Rhone flavors and it comes in a lighter, elegant package. Chateauneuf the way I like it.

  • If I were to describe this wine with one word it would be 'licorice'. But there is so much more going on here, wonderful flavors or baked plums, brown fruit, pepper and spices. There is more oomph here compared to the 1994 Bonneau from a weak ago, the fruit is more intense, but it's still a wine in the traditional mold. The 1994s are showing really well right now and this one will easily last for another 5 years but I don't think it will get better. Great stuff.

  • A warm and sunny wine that continue to show warm, baked fruit in the brown end of the spectrum; figs and dates but also ripe, dark plum, licorice tobacco and spices. This is a big, full-bodied wine in a traditional style. It fills out the palate with warm, mature flavors and tannins that are fully integrated. I brought this bottle to Apiary for dinner with Henrik and we were both quite happy. Great food by the way.
