  • Only my second Moelleux, and my first Première Trie, so take my note with a grain of salt! Last week I gave the 2018 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Le Haut-Lieu a 93 score, finding it to be quite excellent despite its youth. The Première Trie didn't wow me, though. Understanding that both wines are much too young, I could still perceive the greatness in last week's wine. This one not so much.

The 2018 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux 1ère Trie Le Haut-Lieu is very rich and sweet but lacking in the acidity to balance it all. While I could perceive the great aging abilty in last week's wine, I have a difficult time sensing it with this.

No score given as I don't have the experience to understand how this wine would age and whether all the parts (sweet, rich, fruit, acidity, tertiary) would eventually come into balance.

Wine Spectator's 2019 review mentioned racy acidity and a minerally spine, none of which are currently on display. Perhaps it is closed and will come back to life later! At this point it is mostly sweet, rich, honey, and a bit of almond.
