An airy, 'aerien' Beaune Pinote nose with cherries, but more Barolo style dried cherries than griotte, more somber than the fragrence of Volnay or Chambolle. A bit dry on the finish still. 4 hours later: Never really changed much. A touch better finish, still not really fragrant, more leathery style fruit. On reflection, I think this is a "usually" more juicy/fruity wine that is a creature of the 2005 vintage (reserved, huge fruit, many wines are still unready) and the pre-2007 Faiveley winemaking style, which was to make big, extracted, long-lived wines. Rated this bottle 87-88 for now and 88 for possible development.

Night before Thanksgiving. Bought on release from PC (back when they used to actually deliver the wine you bought) for a song, these have sat in the cellar untouched for a long time. Very pleasantly surprised about the quality here. Lovely dark cherry, raspberry, cola, and dried flowers. Quite a lot of stuffing but not at all flabby, firm and four-square (tasting more Nuits-like than anything). Not sure what I was expecting but this is very much cote d'Or quality. Persistent medium-length finish. Melty graphite tannins. This is drinking perfectly now and will not improve.

In a great spot right now, but wouldn't hold for more than another year or so.
Good structure, lively acidity, pleasant tannic grip on the back end. Fruit is obviously less primary, but still juicy and tart, somewhat reminiscent of Gushers fruit snacks. Pleasantly earthy, with a tiny hint of funk. No decant needed, just aerate in glass.
Killer bottle, considering I paid like $30 for it in 2009 or 2010.
