This smelled like a complete, mature wine -- with muted but complex aromas of leather and cherry -- but that's not what it tasted like. It had a very short, very metallic finish that did not relax at all over the course of the evening. Decanting and swirling were useless. Leave this one alone for a long time and pray that something good happens to it.

Too young. It still has a strong metallic edge, which I hope will fade with a little more age. We took it along to a dinner party, and I will note for the record that the others liked it a lot more than I did.

Is fine. I like this but I am not so sure it is progressing in a really deep Sagrantino fashion. All the elements are there - tart cherries and earth, but disjointed and doesn't knit. Mocha and BBQ in there. I like it and it has a purity and perception true to the origin which has become obscured with the excess of some producers and the unicorn nature of Bea, so that counts for a lot.

Prune and earth on the nose. On the palate, cherry, plum, blackberry, and notes of prune and earthy spice on the medium finish, with strong tannins and strong acidity. Although this isn't as sophisticated as higher-end Sagrantino, it was a very good value at about $35.

Very nice fruit up front, cherry and beautiful raspberry. Very tannic at this stage, so will probably shine after a few more years.
