  • Tobacco and tar, a little pruny. Decent with food, but wouldn't want to sip it...

  • Well...at 16.1%, it showed its sour/sweet side, fer sher...it did better the first nite when there was some austerity to the newly-opened bottle, as the 2nd showed the blowsy aspect of a high alc wine.

Absolutely an unmistakable Zin from the get-go, the nose shouting out it loudly and proudly. Lingering finish...not too too long, but solid and "worthy" (whatever that means). A fine rendition and quite acceptable if you read the alc level before opening and are ready for it, but I'm not sure I want (m)any more of Rod's alc bombs...heh. They aren't as well balanced as his Zins made from more "restrained" and civilized grapes. I think he outta get Holdredge out there to talk to that Frati vyd just before veaison time...that'll teach 'em!

  • Opened after Garys' tasting at house...lots of bright fruit, still young, pretty with good acidity. Very nice drinking.

  • One of 16 wines tasted at our Joseph Swan & Holdredge OL at La Vista. As we were opening the bottles before the night kicked off and doing a spot check of bottles, this wine stopped me in my tracks. Hands down, the best aromas coming from any wine on the table. Raspberry, blackberry, cherries, spices … you name it, it was soaring from the glass. Same wonderful, heady flavors following through on the palate. My favorite zin on the table and one of my WOTN.
