I am generally not a big fan of pinot grigio - oceans of cheap swill flood the shelves of american wine stores, except because they have become trendy among a certain group of self important drinkers (think Tom Wolfe's Bond Fire of the Vanities.....) they're not actually cheaply priced!
But, for whatever strange reason, I recently found a bottle in my wine cellar and decided to get rid of it.
Wow, this stuff was actually good. Its balanced with a nice mouth feel, interesting mix of fruits, stoney pebbles and oak.
Ok, so its not all cheap swill, but you have to look hard to find the "good" stuff.
