NobleRottersSydney - Yarra Yering (Fix, St James, Sydney): {screwcap, 13%} Floral and fragrant with a cranberry twist. Deep cherry and blackberry flavours with an exotic spicy note. Way better than the 2019. Medium weight, medium tannins but still only subtle oak. Crunchy, savoury medium/long finish. Cleanest and most impressive of the “No 3” wines tasted.

I have some reservations about the direction of the winemaking in recent years - on stylistic, not qualitative grounds. However, I think the winemaker has a good feel for this Iberian varietal blend. I also note that better judges than me rate the winemaker very highly indeed and without my reservations.
The colour is deep purple-magenta. The nose is reminiscent of wine gums and plum jam. There is also what I experience as a slight smell of wet stone/clay, which I like very much in combination with the fruit.
The palate has a degree of restraint and elegance to go with the joyous expression of fruit. There is refreshing acid and trademark fine tannin. This drinks very nicely now but it will age for as long as you want to give it.
Worth seeking out.
