  • Mid shoulder ullage. Crumbly cork.
    Hopes were not high.
On first opening: Sultanas, plum pudding, touch of sherry, cedar.
    Amazing length, reasonable mouthfeel.
Surprisingly it didn’t blow off and become mute. If anything it opened to a core of red fruits cherry and plum, a dash of spice.
Tasted far younger than its almost 50 years.

  • Good level and obviously well cellared. Very good colour, no brick coloration whatsoever. Medium length, but would not have noticed this but for the Burgundy we were drinking at the same time. Still full of life, while still recognisable as an elderly gentleman. Like a well kept 65 year old. Would last quite a few years yet but would not improve.

Written the next day, hence no further description
