Mysterious dark plum colour. Strong bouquet of fruit, wine breadth. Allow at least an hour or more to breathe. Dark plum fruit well balanced spice, blackberries. An explosion of big fruit fills every sip. A full body and bold Shiraz. Long finish.

Still so much youthful energy and bright cherry and blackcurrant aromas, but plenty of tertiary notes as well. Graphite, leather, smoke, licorice, a little meat. A hint of eucalyptus. Dark velvet. Really enjoyed this!

2023 Birthday lunch (Aquitaine Brasserie): Tasted alongside 1998 and 2018. No notes on this one, probbaly the least impressive. Still in very good condition and quite primary but I think 98 and 18 just both superior vintages.

91% Shiraz, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon. Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Adelaide Hills. Matured in old, 1460 liter vats that allow the wine to develop. Decanted off the minimal sediment. Deep and saturated ruby in the glass. Aromas open to show notes of fruit liqueur, blueberry, dark cherry, floral pastilles, baking spice, vanilla and mocha tones. The wine is remarkably youthful on the palate and still showing firm tannins and juicy acids. Polished and powerful with velvety and velour textures. Flavors compliment the nose with notes that recall dark cherry, muddled blackberry, blueberry compote, mocha, spice, floral pastilles and leather. The finish lingers effortlessly with grip.
