Brambly nose shows blackberry, black raspberry, and toffee. Firm palate delivers a smack of dry black fruits, iron, black peppercorn, and a dark briny note riding on acidity. The brine builds onto the finish with dry, sticky tannins, stewed black fruit, peppery dry herbal notes, and lots of fruit skins mixing with oak. Complex but slightly austere as the fruit is dark and brooding.
Opened about 2 hours before pouring first glasses. Enjoyed over the evening starting with a medley of red fruits cherry, hints of raspberry and pomegranate. Joining in with the fruit were spiced notes, orange notes, mint almost floral notes. Wine doesn’t immediately strike you as a zinfandel field blend there was not much of the typical black pepper notes or solidness. A more elegant & softer nose followed through to the palate. While the wine was medium+ bodied and mouthcoating, it still maintained a sense of playfulness and not the weight that the inkiness of the color would indicate. On the palate further dark fruit notes of plum, red fruit licorice notes, tar & tobacco came forth on later glasses. Wine is lingering on the finish with great freshness. . Wine making: Blend has higher percentage of Alicante Bouschet, Lenoir, Grand Noir and Petite Sirah

Silky smooth, mouth coating in a delicate way, medium density - not heavy, yet present and additive. A wonderful wine to imbibe.

2018 is a great vintage of this wine for Bedrock. Solid performance over two days. No rush drink or hold.
