Flower Day - cork pristine with virtually no ingress from the wine. Decanted off about a teaspoon of fine sediment. Fully brick in colour with some mahogany showing at the rim. On the pop and pour after decanting the nose is dried flowers, plum, and sweet cooking spice (nutmeg/allspice). With swirling comes funk, worn leather and a bit of barnyard. On the palate the ripe red and blue fruit hit first followed by leather, tobacco and lightly gritty tannins that rough up the otherwise ultra smooth entry (a good thing). The long finish goes back to dried flowers but there’s a bit of alcohol showing as well as pipe tobacco and old leather. Two hours later the tannins have softened but are still present and the palate is deeper and more textured but not rough. Flavours now are dried fruit and flowers along with old leather and tobacco. Definitely it’s a drink now but it will still hold in a properly maintained cellar for another couple of years at least.

Root Day - Mature but not over the top - dark fruit still very much in evidence and tannins still there despite the plushness of the palate. One of the hits of the tasting - Piedmont vs Tuscany at Charelli's

Bouteille et bouchon parfaits. Trop vieux, dommage il aurait été parfait il y a 5 ans…

Very Smooth. Good value! Possibly would have been better a year ago?

Petaluma Wine Group (Tessa's): A bit tight, black coffee, acid, blackberry. Suave & smooth. Very good.
