Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 85.5 points

  • And another consistent bottle. Moderate, pleasant, authentic new-world pinot that avoids too much fruit, even if it doesn't have awful lot of other dimension. Drink up.

  • Just to note that this was utterly consistent with the previous bottle opened a fortnight ago; what can't be debated as far as screwcaps are concerned is the consistency of the drinking experience...

  • {screwcap, 13.5%} Fading garnet/brick, touch of rust about the colour. Nose is quite aged, all sous bois and undergrowth, cured meats, pastrami; quite intense and obviously was very fruity in its youth. The palate doesn't quite live up to the promise of the nose; the tannins have pretty much departed the scene, although the acid is balanced and juicy. The finish is a little on the short side; but as an eight-year-old 'second wine' this is looking OK. Pleasant with food but probably on the developmental downslope; best before its tenth birthday, I should say. Two more bottles left; will be interesting to observe the consistency under the screwcap.
