Bright red fruit burst out as soon as I pulled the cork. Just soft tannins now. Has a bit of pepper in the mid palate which was a complement to the dish it was served with.Put on weight over 2-3 hours. Will stay at an excellent point for a few years, I believe.

This is in perfect drinking place now. Much more complexity than a few years ago. Still a good acidic backbone, but tannins now sweet. Fruit is still red. Body is medium-light (used to be light). Finish is decent, though not mind-blowing. Good complement to food, not a show stealer.

(Domaine de Montille Beaune 1er Cru Les Sizies) Dark ruby red color (darkest of these de Montille '05s); nice cherry, cranberry and vanilla nose; vanilla oak dominates the ripe black cherry fruit, with sweet firm tannins; medium finish
(de Montille Beaune 1er Cru "Sizies") Nose of Bazooka (but in a good way!), red fruits, some minerals and dark cassis. Really pretty nose that had the whole Beaune symphony rocking. The palate was very dense with layers of fruit and mineral with exceptional concentration and richness. Not that this was some overripe freak show this wine had very fine acidity and perfect delineation.

A lovely Beaune - earthy but sweet mid palate - in a good place at present. Each bottle is better than the last.

While still a burly young burgundy, this has some tentative secondary notes starting to emerge. In any event, big, brawny and delicious burgundy. Yum.
