Beautiful, modulated, layered and complex. Mushrooms, whole bunch, plenty of tertiary character. A wine of stunning personality. Ageing well, and improving.

A wine that march’s you the beat of its own drum. While it certainly benefits from Central Otago’s purity of fruit expression, the wine feels far more European in its noticeable whole-bunch style, dry and elegant structure, and understated (but always engaging) countenance. I really love this wine, and think it is the “sweet spot” in Aurim’s uniformly superb lineup. One of the most fascinating wineries in Central Otago.

Absolutely stunning NZ PN, with a distinct French twist - very heavily influenced by whole bunch fermentation, the stemmy aspects of the wine directly frame the nose and palate of this wine. Lean, but powerful, extremely tannic, high tined, dark cherry, plum, chocolate, earth. Complete, very French in style. Savoury and structured. This is great wine, by any definition, and seems to be me to hold the "sweet spot" in the Aurum range. The regular cute is fabulous, but this is absolutely a step above in complexity and refinement, while the Madeliene, while certainly the more refined (and better) wine, is not that much more complex to warrant its premium. Great wine, and tis is bound to develop positively in the bottle, thanks to its fabulous dimension. 94+
