  This was incredible. Fresh and lively on the palate, vibrant, like a great Bonne Mares. The palate had forest floor notes but a vibrant savoriness. We poured it with some smoked BBQ pork shoulder thinking BBQ and zinfandel, what a great pairing! What we got was an extrodinary pairing of this killer wine whose texture and taste melded with the zinfandel. For me the best run of the line that night spanning the 85, 87, 92, 97, 02, 04 and 06 vintages. I loved this one but I believe most people prefered the 1997 because it gave these secondary notes to a slight degree but also still had primary fruit.
