  • After a couple of years, this 2018 is drinking better than ever. Great depth, energy and nerve. A true Matassa signature wine. Still, at the moment, I like the 19-vintage more.

No doubt it’s a Matassa wine, when you smell it. Classic Matassa-signature with a balanced VA, flowers and dark, fresh fruit. It offers fresh blackberry, sweet cherry, dried cranberry, spruce needles, sloe, elderberry juice, mild ash, a fine pepperness, lots of herbs and a great perfumed feel of red and violet flowers. And then the delicate VA.
It’s medium-bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins, that are soft and crunchy. A bit prickling too. It’s more rich than the surrounding vintages, still with a great juicy balance. Blackberry, fresh cherry, thyme, blod orange, a slight green leafy touch, dried herbal undertones, mild pepper, a hint of sweet licorice and a nice volatile finish.
