Well following the principal bottling of the Caiaroosa Toscana 16', this wine is the poor stepsister. It is still very nice aromatically but in mouth the wine has a sour and acidic flavor which destroys the fruit expression. Not sure what's happening here. Perhaps this is a bad bottling. I get sour fruit with spoiled fruits.

Intriguing blend of a tone of different grapes. Ripe and juicy with lots of berry flavors. Would have guessed a lot more Syrah than actually is in there with the blackberry and boysenberry quality. Smooth and luxurious mouthfeel. Not necessarily a profound wine, but also not just a simple quaffer; it is fresh and playful that will match a lot of foods. I do think it will improve the longer you let it air.

Retail $36. 42% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot, 15% Syrah, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 5% Sangiovese, 1% Alicante Bouschet. Gambero Rosso 3. Quite the kitchen sink of a Super Tuscan, but it does not have the "normal" Super Tuscan feel. It is fruity (blackberry, plum) but not overly so. It is rich, but certainly in balance. It is not, however, big, nor over-the-top in a "Look At Me" kind of way. No, this is more reserved than fruit bomb or muscular powerhouse. And I like it. This wine is great on its own, but it screams "food." A delightful quaff.
