The label says this is a single vineyard Chianti Classico Riserva, which would be a major shift from what used to be bottled as Ser Gioveto (two words rather than one). That wine was a blend of Sangiovese, Cab Sauv, Merlot, and I think some Nebbiolo. This is a very tasty, cleanly made (i.e., not rustic), mid-weight Chianti at the very front end of its drinking window. I’d be happy to own more and would expect some improvement with another year in the cellar.

Generous yet still balanced. Unique/good sense of place. A touch bitter through the middle actually adds interest to this/it works. Young, with a solid future. Only moderate complexity on this day. Drink 2022-2040+ recommended+

Still somewhat tight, even day 2. Drink now with a steak or hold.
